Club President Don Evans said "This relationship with one of the best Academy systems in the world is a massive boost for young Australian footballers who wish to play football in the best league in the world. The opportunity that now exists with our affiliation with West Ham is to provide talented players with a stage to demonstrate their ability during coaching clinics later this year, that will be run jointly by West Ham and Stirling Lions coaching staff under the watchfull eye of Hammers Director of Coaching in Australia Mr. Mike Leigh."

Evans went onto say, "It would be a dream for another Stan Lazarides to make the trek to the Boleyn Ground and make a career out of football.
