Partner Clubs Coaching Directors visit West Ham United

February 5, 2010 - Seven of West Ham United’s International Partner Clubs were represented on a recent educational visit to West Ham United. The trip consisted of Academy training session observations, a question and answer session with Assistant Academy Director, Paul Heffer, presentations by Head of Education, Nick Haycock and West Ham United  Ladies Head Coach, Tony Marshall. The visit culminated in watching the U15/16 West Ham Academy team play Charlton Athletic followed by the first team game against Blackburn Rovers at Upton Park.

The visit forms part of the formal partnership between the US Club and the West Ham United Academy.

One Coaching Director wrote upon returning to the US -  I want to Sincerely thank you for the trip and your generosity I was truly humbled by the experience, I truly believe this will benefit the players in all the organizations involved”

“Motivating Experience”

Another stated,

“I would like to thank you again for organizing such a great event.  It has been a real motivating experience, and something that I feel really helped get the program off the ground.

I was really surprised at how well we were received by everyone involved at WHU.  I feared that the UK staff would not be very helpful, and they would be a bit arrogant towards their US counterparts.  That was not the case.  Everyone from Ben Illingworth on down was fantastic! The question and answer sessions that we had were priceless.”
