Tony Carr Gives Back

September 24, 2011 - West Ham United Academy Director, Tony Carr, MBE, recently held an event in order to give back to the London community.  Tony took time away from his Academy team to spend time with the youth of London with their struggles with diabetes.  Click here to read more about the event.
 
2011 Elite Boys Experience

March 23, 2011 - The 2011 Elite Boys Academy Experience has now come to an end with almost all the players flying home yesterday. Over the past 10 days 20 boys trained at the West Ham Academy, played against the Under 15 West Ham team, watched the first team at Tottenham, the reserves at home to Newcastle and the Academy against MK Dons as well as seeing the sights of London and Wembley Stadium.  Read more about their trip here.  And make sure to check out the facebook page for more pictures.

 

Elite Boys Academy

Experience Underway

March 15, 2011 - The 2011 Elite Boys Academy Experience is underway at the West Ham United Academy in London.
20 young boys hoping to catch the eye of the Academy staff arrived on Saturday morning before heading to West London for their first taste of live football at Queens Park Rangers versus Crystal Palace. On Sunday morning they observed the West Ham United Academy Under 10, 12 and 14 teams play against MK Dons before heading to Central London to take in all the sights and a trip on the London Eye. With jet lag shaken off day 3 saw the boys train for the first time under the guidance of Assistant Academy Director Paul Heffer. Over the next 6 days the boys will take part in more training sessions as well as taking a look behind the scenes at Upton Park and Wembley Stadium. The tour culminates with live English Premier

League action as West Ham United take on London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

 

Dylan Tombides

March 8, 2010 - Former International Academy Player and member of Partner Club Stirling Lions, Dylan Tombides, recently had a post game interview with West Ham.  Tombides talked of all of the milestones that he has already reached at such a young age.  He is a consistent member of the reserve team and dressed for a recent First Team game.

Pure FC Become Partner Club

January 31st, 2011 –The West Ham United International Academy today announced a partnership with Pure FC of Jacksonville, Florida. January 23rd, 2011 – The recent loss in the Youth FA Cup was a sad day for Tony Carr and the team, but the team has won 6 straight league games now after a win over Portsmouth 3-2 over the weekend.  Read more about what Tony Carr had to say about the Youth FA Cup here.  Also, you can read about the team’s recent success in the league games here.

Youth FA Cup 4th Round

January 19th, 2011 - Tony Carr and Sebastian Lletget (former Academy Partner Club Player) of West Ham United U18’s team could not battle back in the 2nd half in the 4th round of the Youth FA Cup against Manchester United.  The team trailed 1-0 starting at the 35th minute, and the score never changed from there.  Read more about the game here.

International Academy in

South America

February 14, 2011 - A few weeks ago International Academy Scout, Mike Leigh visited the countries of Argentina and Brazil courtesy of an invite from the Sporting Club Corral de Bustos of Argentina.  While there Mike watched the host club's Under 15 tournament as well as conducting a coaching clinic on the "West Ham Way" to over 200 coaches. On the same trip, Mike was also a guest of the Pamleiras Football Club of Brazil, now coached by former Brazilian world cup winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. Mike is pictured here with Scolari. Mike Leigh and the International Academy would like to express their thanks to both organizations for their hospitality and the invitation.

 

Minnesota Thunder Goalkeeper Trains at Academy

2011 - Treston Kederer of International Partner Club, Minnesota Thunder Academy, has recently returned to the USA having spent a week training at the West Ham United Academy. The trip came about via the partnership between the Thunder and the International Academy and was funded by Treston's family.  Of the experience Treston said, "Training with the best, 'The Academy of Football' has given me the knowledge and experience to push me to the next level. I hope to be back in the near future". Treston's father, Toby said, "You truly have a world-class operation and I would like to thank you very much for giving Treston the opportunity to live and breathe football at West Ham." Treston is the Goalkeeper of the U15 Minnesota Thunder Academy, '95 Region II Team, he is pictured here at the Academy with West Ham United Academy Goalkeeper coach Billy Lepene.
 

2011 Elite Player Academy Experience

Mach 11, 2011 - The 2011 West Ham United Elite Player Academy Experience begins in London on Saturday.  20 young soccer players aged 11-16 arrive from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia for a 10 day experience of a life time, hoping to impress the coaches of the West Ham United Academy.  The Players have come from the West Ham United International Academy’s Camp Program, starting with a local player id camp then onto the National Camp and now to the Academy itself in London.  Over the next few days we will be following their progress....For a full list of the boys click here.

Lletget Shines

Mach 13, 2011 - International Academy Player, Sebastian Lletget, shined off of the state sheet during the Under 18’s win over Cardiff.  Tony Carr said, “Seb played very well.  He was influential and controlled things.  He is known for his technique and astuteness, but this time he had to dig in and I was really pleased.”  Read more about Lletget and Tombides recent success here.  And you can watch the video with Sebastian Lletget here.

Player ID Camp - Indianapolis

April 8, 2011 - Academy Partner Club, International School of Indiana, in Indianapolis held a West Ham United International Academy player id camp. Over 70 players attended the camp receiving coaching sessions and drills from the West Ham United Academy, a West Ham United International Academy t-shirt and gym bag. April 19, 2011 - Recently West Ham United International Academy took a small group of players selected from Player ID Camps to England in order to get the chance to train with The Academy.  The experience was recently featured in a match day program.  Click here to see the write up.

 

ID Camp in Mexico

May 3, 2011 - The West Ham United International Academy today announced it's first ever camp in Mexico. The camp will take place over the weekend of May 27-29th and will be run in association with Mexican partner Sports Concepts.  Mexico will be the fifth country visited by the International Academy in the past twelve months following the United States, Canada, Bermuda and Australia.                                     State Championships

June 1, 2011 - West Ham United International Academy Partner Club, Rio Vista FC, located in Albuquerque, NM, won 8 state championships.  As of May 26, 2011 no other youth soccer club in Region IV has won 8 State Championships and advanced that many teams to Region IV Championships.  Underlines great year for Rio Vista FC players 40 players made verbal commitments or signed letters of intent with college programs around the country.  2 Players Visited West Ham United FC of English Premiership after Identification at Player ID Camps on the elite academy experience trip.

June 25, 2011 - West Ham United International Academy player Kevin Quintana of the reigning National Champions, Alpharetta Ambush, has won his 2nd in a row golden gloves award.  Click here to read an article from ESPN about the Ambush’s run to becoming Region III Champions again this year.  Click here if you want to see a video highlighting Alpharetta’s National Championship from last year.  Kevin will be helping out at this year’s National Camps in Rome, GA and Santa Clara, CA.

July 6, 2011 - West Ham United International Academy Partner Club, Super 9, recently had a team have great success.  Their boys Under 14 team tied for 1st place at Thruway League Premier Division in New York State West.  Congratulations to that team, see them pictured below.
 

National Camp 2011 #1

Bermuda Player ID Camp

Dylan Tombides Update

September 16, 2011 - Word out of London is that Dylan Tombides is on his way to a full recovery.  The Austrailian Striker was diagnoed with cancer after he finished playing with Australia in the U18 World Cup.  In the absence of Tombides, the U18 Academy has continued their great success.  The team goes for the 5th straight win, and you can read about it here.  In the meantime enjoy this video of Dylan from this past season before he made is 1st team sideline debut.
